ROCKETS

4–5 Years | Building the Foundations

Think. Move. Play.

Rockets introduces children to a more structured stage of football development while maintaining the enjoyment, imagination and freedom that are essential during the early years. Designed for children aged 4–5 years, the programme builds upon the fundamental movement and coordination skills developed during earlier stages.

However, our focus is not simply on performing a skill. We want children to begin understanding when, where and why they might use it.

Through small-sided games, individual challenges and guided discovery, players are encouraged to recognise space, make simple decisions and find their own solutions.

We also introduce the social elements of football, including working with others, sharing, communication and understanding simple rules.

Mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process. Children are given the freedom to experiment without fear of getting things wrong.

What we focus on

  • Fundamental football techniques

  • Ball control and coordination

  • Recognising and moving into space

  • Developing awareness and simple decision-making

  • Individual creativity and problem-solving

  • Communication and playing with others

  • Confidence, resilience and independence

  • Understanding basic football principles

Our aim

To develop confident young players who enjoy having the ball, are willing to try new things and are beginning to understand the game.

At Rockets, we don't want children simply copying what a coach tells them to do.

We want them to begin thinking for themselves.
